Problems in the Church
Revelation 2-3
Are there problems in your church? The answer to that question is yes. Different churches have different problems, and some problems are more severe than others, but on this side of heaven, every church has significant, serious problems – whether it be church politics, power struggles, gossip, poor teaching, lack of passion, arguments, fighting – the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is plagued with problems. In Revelation 2-3, Jesus dictates letters to various different churches to help them with their problems. This passage explodes the myth that the New Testament church did have these kinds of problems. But more than that, it gives us hope and guidance to show us how to handle problems in the church.
