Loving God With All Your Heart

Jesus said the greatest commandment was to love the Lord your God with all your being. But what is love? Is loving God nothing more than commitment to obedience? What role do the emotions play? Christians have tended to err on one of two sides of these questions. Some fall into a superstitious mysticism that seeks truth by means of experience above God’s Word. Others have erred on the other side; turning love for the Lord into nothing more than resolve and obedience, disregarding the importance of the affections and reducing God to a mere set of propositions instead of a person to be loved, cherished, known, experienced, desired, and delighted in. This study is a thorough examination of what the psalms teach about the nature of love, how to increase your love, and how it helps in living the Christian life. It is an updated version of the older study from Psalm 63, and it includes new material about how to have fellowship with each individual member of the Trinity.
