God promised David he would be king after Saul. But years went by between the death of Saul and the enthronement of David over the whole house of Israel. No other king has so much material devoted to his ascension to the throne.

This study recounts the works of God in Israel’s civil war, the unification of the nation, and David’s slow rise to the throne.
